Nick Vanderhye led the way on offense reaching base five times for the Thundercats. After surrendering a 1-0 lead through three, the Thundercats took the lead in the fourth and didn’t look back as they climbed back to within one game of .500. Final score: 9-3.
For the A's, starter Sam Tinnesz fanned 11 batters in 5 innings, but also walked seven and fell victim to some untimely lapses on defense, earning him the loss. Offensively, the A's scattered 12 hits, 3 of which came off of Tim Denevi's bat, yet stranded all but three of their runners.
After jumping out to a 4-0 start to the season, the A's have now dropped two consecutive games and play next in a DH versus the Arlington Silver Bullets this Saturday at 5pm at West Potomac.
The Thundercats (3-4) will kick off their inter-league play slate this Sunday 2pm at Robinson Secondary against the IBL Clementes.
