Barons eek out win over BMT to claim 8th overall title

The Barons and BMT (a combo of the Bullets, Mallards, and Thundercats) squared off in a winner-takes-all game #3 for the 2018 fall championship. The weather broke just enough to get the decisive game in at the beautiful Tucker Field baseball complex in Arlington, VA, with temperatures hovering at a “balmy” 52 degrees.

The Barons and BMT sent their aces to the mound (McClure, Drager) and what ensued was a pitcher’s duel with little scoring and a lot of defense. The BMT went up early after a Pimentel RBI single in the 2nd but could not get much more off McClure. The Barons were held at bay by Drager’s tight slider, until the 6th when Vanderbosh’s infield single drove in Dent to tie the game. In the bottom of the 7th, the Baron’s McEnheimer reached on a fielder’s choice and later scored after two infield singles and a bases loaded RBI Walk by McClure. That was all that the Baron’s needed as Closer, Ayers, went 2 strong innings to secure the Barons victory! Barons are Back-to-Back-to-Back-to-Back-to-Back-to-Back league Champs; congrats to them on their tradition of excellence!
