The Navigators sent their longtime ace and co-manager, Brandt Fletcher, to the mound, to battle the manager of the Mallards, Dan O'Donnell on the other side of each inning. Both veteran hurlers delivered as they have so many times before.
In the first game, the truncated 7-inning format was not enough to decide a winner, with the score tied 1-1, so they played a few extra outs. Ultimately, the Mallards pushed a run across and won 2-1 in extra innings.
In the second game, the Navigators' defense held the Mallards to just three runs, good enough for a 4-3 win for Navs starter Rocky Gardiner.
The Mallards play Monday the 30th against the Silver Bullets, in a MD feature game 8pm at Cosca. The Navigators are on a weekday hiatus and will play next in a DH versus the Senators at West Potomac High School Saturday May 4.
